Datakit CAD Data Conversion
Datakit was created in 1994 by Francis Cadin, a former STEP expert from the International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO). Datakit is the leader in the CAD data exchange market. Its head office is in Lyon, France, with additional offices in Marseille and Carcassonne.
The company has 25 employees, 20 of whom are in the research and development department. It has more than 100 software vendor/partners worldwide, and 80% of sales revenue comes from abroad.
The best advantage of Datakit is the consideration of the overall architecture of the model, not just its geometrical definition.
Datakit’s strategy is to offer a multiplatform, modular, and deep range of data exchange solutions and services.
Datakit develops three CAD Data Exchange Solutions:
1. CrossManager – for stand-alone translators
2. CrossCad/Plg – for CAD plug-ins
3. CrossCad/Ware – for components integrated by 3rd party software companies
Its products – plugs-ins, stand-alone versions, vendor-embedded components, and data correction solutions to heal or simplify models – have been successfully adopted worldwide.
CAD data exchange solutions enable the reading of a whole set of CAD data: 2D, 3D, wireframe, solid, surface, attributes, machining features, history of construction, data of dimensioning, annotations and tolerancing (FD&T, GTI or PMI), and specific items dedicated to certain fields. Parts as well as assemblies are well recovered thanks to Datakit’s strategy to match the original data hierarchy.
A wide range of services are available to transfer complete CAD databases or complex assemblies. Most of the time very specific treatments are to be applied.
