Form control guides

There are all sorts of settings in DriveWorks that are there to help you.  But if you’re like me, you probably haven’t spent the time on them you should have to set them up to actually help you.  One of these areas is Form Control Guides.

Do you know what I mean by form control guides?  They are the black and blue lines that appear on the form when you drag a control near another control or near the edge of the form.  The black lines are “margin guides”, the blue lines are “alignment guides”.

Form control guides are great.  When you’re dragging a control, or controls, on a form, the guides automatically “snap” the control(s) to nearby controls and form edges.  Makes it quick and easy to position and align the controls.

But what if they don’t give you exactly what you want, or if you don’t want the snapping to occur at all?  Well, you can change the form control guide settings, or even turn them off, as shown in the image below.

I won’t get into “Resolution Guides” now, they’re for another day.
